Breast Cancer Survivor Aida Padiernos – 10 Years in Remission

Ms. Aida Padiernos was 51 years old in 2008 when she underwent modified radical mastectomy by me.   The primary tumor was about 3 cm. Two nodes were positive for metastasis.  She underwent 6 cycles of CMF (cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, and fluorouracil) postoperatively.   She did not have radiotherapy nor hormonal therapy. Cancer surveillance was done using symptom-sign-directed approach.

By October 2019, she will be 11 years in remission.  She is now 62 years old.  At the moment, she is more than 10 years in remission.  We both thank God for this long remission.

She has been looking forward to be included in my cancer survivor registry.  When she came for checkup on April 13, 2019, she asked me to have our picture taken and to include her in my cancer survivor registry to give inspiration to others.
I am happy to learn that she included having picture with me at 10 years in remission as part of her intentional life plan.  Having an intentional living plan and looking forward to be included in my cancer survivor registry, I believe, can contribute to long remission.
