Question: Can I be certain that, if my mammogram shows no sign of breast cancer, I definitely don’t have it?
Answers given by (to which I agree, especially those underlined):

Mammography is one of the best methods we have for screening the general population, but it is not nearly as good as we would like it to be.
Your doctor should be doing a physical examination including breast palpation exam. Physical exam can find some cancers that mammography cannot.
Also if you have a change in breast contour, or a new or enlarging lump, or nipple changes or bloody discharge, these can be signs of cancer that might not be visible on the mammogram ……
The precise sensitivity of mammography depends on the density of the breast.
In younger denser breasts, or in people on hormone replacement, sensitivity is rather low, perhaps as low as 60%, whereas some patient populations with fatty breasts have had sensitivity as high as 95%.
ROJoson’s Comments and Additional Answers:
Take note of the importance of physical examination by a breast specialist. It can detect things missed by mammography.
